Cooper Metals Ltd (ASX:CPM) is back at King Solomon prospect at the Mt Isa East Copper-Gold Project in north-western Queensland, striving to prove-up earlier positive intersections at the site.
The company plans to drill 20 reverse circulation (RC) holes for 2,000 metres, with a focus on the first 150 metres from surface, to work out the potential strike length and depth continuation.
During the maiden drilling campaign at the prospect in June, the company intersected:
- 17 metres at 2.2% copper from 84 metres including 8 metres at 4.3% from 84 metres; and
- 18 metres at 1.8% copper and 0.11 g/t gold from 57 metres, including 5 metres at 5.4% copper and 0.31 g/t gold.
IP anomalies also in sights
It is hoped that new induced polarisation (IP) anomalies from surveys conducted in July will also bear fruit.
These surveys picked out significant additional gold-copper targets down dip, adjacent to and along strike from known mineralisation at King Solomon 1, 2 and 3.
The company thinks this points to a much larger mineralised system than previously thought.
“Time to get the truth detector out”
Cooper Metals managing director Ian Warland said: “After a successful maiden drilling program at King Solomon in June and a highly encouraging IP survey in July, it’s time to get the truth detector out again to test the new copper-gold targets.
“At the end of this drill program, we hope to have a much better understanding of the size and grade potential of the mineralisation. I look forward to updating the market on results later in the year.”
Drilling is expected to take around two to three weeks with assays to be reported as soon as they are available.
