Carnavale Resources Ltd (ASX:CAV) has discovered a new gold lode in shallow, untested rock near the McTavish North prospect of the Kookynie Gold Project in Western Australia, providing a fresh opportunity to grow the prospect and the project’s resource.
The company has completed a 30-hole reverse circulation (RC) program for 5,210 metres at the newly discovered gold lode, which was identified in follow-up drilling intended to investigate aircore drilling results from McTavish North.
High-grade results from this area include:
- 11 metres at 14.30 g/t gold from 51 metres, including 1-metre at 43.3 g/t from 52 metres and 2 metres at 44.17 g/t from 55 metres;
- 1-metre at 9.03 g/t from 80 metres; and
- 1-metre at 8.60 g/t from 107 metres
At McTavish East, Carnavale completed 16 RC holes targeting extensions to the gold zone along strike and at depth. Results of note include:
- 4 metres at 18.59 g/t gold from 122 metres;
- 7 metres at 6.98 g/t from 225 metres including 1-metre at 28.8 g/t from 225 metres;
- 2 metres at 18.77 g/t from 168 metres;
- 4 metres at 10.67 g/t from 55 metres including 1-metre at 21.3 g/t from 55 metres;
- 5 metres at 3.85 g/t from 64 metres; and
- 3 metres at 5.11 g/t from 234 metres.
“Delighted” by new discovery
“We are delighted to have discovered a new high-grade lode at McTavish North with the first RC drill holes into the prospect,” Carnavale Resources CEO Humphrey Hale said.
“In addition, we are pleased with the results from the second RC program at the newly discovered McTavish East prospect which continues to deliver high-grade gold hits and grow this prospect.
“In the meantime, CAV hasn’t slowed down and has recently completed aircore and diamond drilling targeting the prospective corridor between McTavish East to Champion South.”
Carnavale has successfully defined mineralisation over McTavish East in a 350-metre by 200-metre area.
The company used a separate aircore drilling program to expand McTavish East alone the 1.1-kilometre-long structure between the prospect and Champion south, with results expected in the next few weeks.
Finally, CAV also drilled three diamond holes for 491 metres, targeting extensions of existing mineralisation. Assays are expected within this quarter.
