Westar Resources hits the ground running in Opaline Well field program

Once the team completes its field reconnaissance, Westar hopes to walk away with a better understanding of the tenement’s geology, accessibility and economic mineral potential.

Westar Resources Ltd (ASX:WSR) has mobilised to site at its Opaline Well Project in Western Australia's Pilbara region to kickstart a field reconnaissance, mapping and rock chip sampling program.

Geologists will comb the ground and take to the sky as part of a helicopter-supported program, which will ultimately facilitate ground truthing across Opaline’s airborne electromagnetic (AEM) base metal targets.

Anomaly 101 — an 800-metre volcanic-hosted massive sulphide prospect — is considered the highest priority target, but the Westar team will also take the magnifying glass to gold and cobalt prospects in the field.

Planning for next chapter at Opaline

Commenting on the activity, Westar managing director Karl Jupp said: “We’re thrilled to be getting back into the field at Opaline Well and taking a closer look at these exciting AEM targets.

“We’re keen to test the gold and cobalt prospectivity of the region and this program will assist in evaluating next steps on these targets.”

Once the team completes its field reconnaissance, Westar hopes to walk away with a better understanding of the tenement’s geology, accessibility and economic mineral potential.

Rock chip sample assays will be considered in tandem with Westar’s geological field assessment and initial pXRF analysis, which will ultimately guide planning for the next phase of exploration activities.

About Opaline Well

Westar’s Opaline project is 190 kilometres southeast of Port Hedland and 35 kilometres west of Nullagine in the highly prospective Pilbara Mineral Field.

The project consists of one granted exploration license — covering roughly 67 square kilometres and lies adjacent to Greatland Gold’s Panorama Project.

Westar’s broader portfolio spans some of WA’s most prolific mineralised regions, including Sandstone, Mt Magnet and Southern Cross.
