Legend Mining Ltd (ASX:LEG) has released an update on its activities at the Mawson prospect in the Fraser Range, Western Australia.
Diamond drilling is underway on site, and two of the drillholes have intersected prospective host rocks containing magmatic sulphide.
The company’s 3D seismic data is proving its worth, assisting Legend to identify further targets at Mawson.
“Genuinely exciting rocks”
Legend managing director Mark Wilson said: “There have been some genuinely exciting rocks intersected in the latest two diamond drillholes at Mawson.

“These drillholes are further evidence of the value of the 3D seismic data as well as validation of the size and prospectivity of the Mawson intrusion.
“Each of these two holes have been designed to intersect prospective target areas identified from interpretation of the 3D seismic data.
“We are gaining valuable geological information from diamond holes drilled to date and the extent of this information will only be fully understood once all follow up structural, geological, DHTEM and assay results are received.”
Ongoing activity
Exploration activity continues at Mawson, including diamond drilling testing of the areas pointed to by the 3D seismic data, associated downhole electromagnetic surveying (DHTEM) and physical property surveys.
All results, including for assays, DHTEM, and petrophysical property measurements are pending.
Joint venture variation
The company has also varied a joint venture agreement with Mark Gareth Creasy to reflect that a commitment by Legend to fund a proposed 2-kilometre diamond drillhole at the Octagonal prospect has been replaced with the commitment to fund a 24-square-kilometre 3D seismic survey across the Octagonal prospect.
