Cambridge Cognition Holdings PLC (AIM:COG) highlighted a new therapeutic area for the company, noting two agreements for trials in post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
The company, which has digital solutions to help assess brain health, in a statement, said it had entered into a research agreement with the United States Department of Defense and, separately, is also now contracted to a “top 10 pharmaceutical company” as the cognitive assessment partner for an upcoming PTSD treatment trial.
Cambridge Cognition’s proprietary CANTAB cognitive assessment tool will be used in the studies to measure the potentially distinct pathophysiological processes involved in PTSD.
PTSD is believed to affect around 15mln adults per year and up to 31% of military veterans.
AIM-quoted Cambridge Cognition noted that approximately 20 PTSD treatment trials take place every year, and, as such it is a therapeutic area that has potential for further sales of its assessment solutions.
"Cognitive impairment is increasingly recognised as a major component of PTSD,” said chief executive Matthew Stork.
