Kin Mining NL (ASX:KIN) has provided further evidence for the presence of gold mineralisation at the Iron King Project in Western Australia with “encouraging” results returned from first-pass reverse circulation (RC) drilling at the Axford and Iron King prospects.
The RC program was designed to probe the area beneath anomalous aircore drilling results at the two prospects, with results of note including:
Iron King:
- 8 metres at 1.79 g/t gold from 13 metres, including 2 metres at 3.30 g/t from 37 metres and 1-metre at 2.37 g/t from 75 metres;
- 2 metres at 2.74 g/t from 54 metres; and
- 2 metres at 2.86 g/t from 60 metres.
Axford:
- 1-metre at 2.23 g/t gold from 92 metres;
- 2 metres at 1.88 g/t from 94 metres;
- 1-metre at 1.25 g/t from 19 metres, 1-metre at 6.30 g/t from 54 metres and 1-metre at 1.10 g/t from 65 metres; and
- 1-metre at 1.46 g/t from 21 metres.
The company has interpreted these results to indicate the presence of gold mineralisation, which has been associated with quartz veining and sulphides adjacent to a granodiorite intrusion.
Kin Mining is particularly encouraged by the sections of narrow, high-grade gold within wider zones of low-grade mineralisation, as demonstrated in the Iron King hole that returned the 8-metre intersection.
Similar mineralisation to King of the Hill
“The limited RC drilling completed at Iron King has confirmed primary gold mineralisation below the shallow aircore results released in 2021,” Kin Mining managing director Andrew Munckton said.
“We have now confirmed the presence of primary gold mineralisation over substantial widths, coincident with quartz veining and sulphides.
“Importantly, the gold mineralisation at both Iron King and Axford is associated with alteration zones adjacent to an interpreted granodiorite intrusion.
“The similarity of the Iron King mineralisation to the nearby King of the Hill style of deposit is notable and therefore, the prospect requires further analysis and follow up drilling.”
Kin says this latest round of drilling reinforces evidence collected from soil sampling, aircore drilling and historical drilling, pointing to two parallel zones of mineralisation centred on the recently drilled Axford prospect and the historical Iron King West prospect.
