Ferrexpo PLC (LSE:FXPO), an exporter of iron ore pellets from Ukraine, said it completed an external assurance process on its reporting of key safety metrics and Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions for 2021.
It is the FTSE-250 group’s first external assurance process and the company said it was a credit to its teams in Ukraine and central Europe that the process was completed in 2022, with minimal delay, due to Russia's ongoing invasion of Ukraine.
Ferrexpo shares were up 9.4% at 145.10 pence in early trading, outperforming a 0.3% dip in the FTSE- 250 index.
"Today's news marks an important step in Ferrexpo's reporting of sustainability information, with stakeholders increasingly relying on sustainability information to make informed decisions regarding companies to partner with, and invest in,” said Ann-Christin Andersen, chair of Ferrexpo's Health, Safety, Environment and Community committee.
“Through completing an external assurance process on key safety and emissions data, we hope to build confidence in our existing reporting and future plans for further incorporating sustainability topics into our strategy for the years ahead.”
