Pantoro fields golden results at Green Lantern in advance of resource update

“The ongoing results from Green Lantern demonstrate the potential of the Scotia Mining Centre generally, and we look forward to releasing an updated mineral resource and ore reserve shortly," MD Paul Cmrlec said.

Pantoro Ltd (ASX:PNR) has recorded strong gold results from drilling on stage two of the open pit plan at Green Lantern deposit of the Norseman Project in WA.

This most recent phase of drilling yielded significant results from Green Lantern, which lies 270 metres southeast of the Scotia Pit and is open at depth and along strike to the north.

The stage two drilling is not included in the ore reserve and results from the final round of infill will be used to finalise an update to the current mineral resource and ore reserve.

Green Lantern shines

Drilling at Green Lantern has continued to define multiple lodes, including high-grade northwest-southeast oriented cross faults which remain open down dip and along strike to the south.

The extensive results indicate a wide lode system as well as a narrower high-grade system at the prospect, and include:

  • 38 metres at 5.85 g/t gold from 134 metres;
  • 7 metres at 2.91 g/t from 248 metres;
  • 2 metres at 8.4 g/t from 24 metres;
  • 11 metres at 15.23 g/t from 259 metres;
  • 10 metres at 2.22 g/t from 190 metres;
  • 7 metres at 3.35 g/t from 24 metres; and
  • 9 metres at 3.94 g/t from 187 metres.

Mineralisation remains open to the south and down dip, suggesting potential for underground mining following completion of the planned open pits.

Drilling continues to increase confidence in the ore geometry and controls on mineralisation. Deeper high-grade mineralisation has now been identified in the southern portion of the orebody.

Extending defined mineralisation

Pantoro is forging ahead with step-out drilling in the area with a view to extending the defined mineralisation to the south of the current open pit design.

Managing director Paul Cmrlec said: “The ongoing results from Green Lantern demonstrate the potential of the Scotia Mining Centre generally and we look forward to releasing an updated mineral resource and ore reserve shortly.

“The high grades that continue to be encountered at depth bode well for potential future underground mining at Green Lantern which would complement and expand the underground mining operation already planned for Scotia in the coming years.”

Scotia Mining Centre

The Scotia Mining Centre is around 25 kilometres south of Norseman and was discovered in 1893.

Historical production recorded from the Scotia mine via open pit and underground mining was 811,000 tonnes at 5.9 g/t gold for 155,000 ounces.

Scotia was actively mined from 1987 until 1996. It hosts a number of mineral resource areas in close proximity and several zones where high-grade mineral occurrences have not yet been classified.

The current mineral resource at Scotia is estimated to contain 12.4 million tonnes at 2.30 g/t gold for 906,000 ounces.

Pantoro remains committed to an ongoing exploration and resource extension program at Scotia.
