Proactive weekly oil and gas highlights: Chariot, Zephyr, Hartshead and more

Zephyr Energy PLC (AIM:ZPHR, OTCQB:ZPHRF) said it is looking to the future with a high degree of confidence and excitement following the achievements of 2021, which saw it transformed “into a carbon neutral, cash generative, self-sustaining oil production company”.

The AIM-quoted firm, in a statement ahead of today’s AGM, told investors it now has a balanced portfolio of both operated and non-operated assets in two established oil producing basins in the United States.

Hartshead Resources NL (ASX:HHR) has received a Letter of No Objection from the North Sea Transition Authority (NSTA) in respect of the development concept for Phase I development of the Anning and Somerville gas fields in the UK Southern Gas Basin.

Receipt of the letter now gives HHR the green light to submit a Field Development Plan, with the Assessment Phase of the Anning and Somerville field development concept now finalised.

Chariot Ltd (AIM:CHAR, OTC:OIGLF) has announced a material increase in its gas resources offshore Morocco, validating its decision to fast-track its field development plans for the Anchois gas project.

Oil & Gas consultant Netherland Sewell & Associates has reviewed the project and upgraded the resource estimates for the Anchois field along with other areas of the Lixus offshore licence and the adjacent Rissana acreage.

Hurricane Energy PLC (LSE:HUR) told investors the Lancaster field was producing at a rate of 8,650 barrels of oil per day as of July 16.

The company, in a monthly update, said there was no crude lifting in June and the next shipment will be offloaded later this month.

Challenger Energy Group PLC (AIM:CEG, OTC:BSHPF) told investors that production for the second quarter amounted to 34,159 barrels gross, equating to 375 barrels per day, an increase of around 6% on the preceding three-month period.

"Everyone in the Challenger Energy team continues to work on driving our production business in Trinidad and Tobago forward, and the results of the second quarter of 2022 represent steady improvements across the board - as compared to the first quarter production was up, oil sales were up, and cash flows being generated in-country have increased,” said chief executive Eytan Uliel.

SDX Energy PLC (AIM:SDX, OTC:SDXEF) merger into Canada-listed Tenaz Energy Corporation has been thrown into doubt as a group of shareholders say they will vote against the deal.

Aleph Commodities, described as a global trading and investment company, on behalf of itself and other parties represents some 25.65% of the company’s issued share capital, SDX noted in a statement, and it has said it intends to go against the SDX board’s recommendation in favour of the deal.

Challenger Energy Group PLC (AIM:CEG, OTC:BSHPF) said Timothy Eastmond has resigned as a director and chief financial officer of the company for personal reasons.

His resignation will take effect immediately and Challenger’s chief commercial officer, Gagan Khurana, will become acting CFO until a suitable permanent replacement is found, the oil and gas company said in a statement.
