Facebook, the social networking site owned by Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ:FB), confirmed it will reinstate a chronological news feed to ensure users can keep up with posts from their friends.
“One of the most requested features for Facebook is to make sure people don’t miss friends’ posts,” Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg commented, “so today we’re launching a Feeds tab where you can see posts from your friends, groups, pages and more separately in chronological order.
“The app will still open to a personalised feed on the Home tab, where our discovery engine will recommend the content we think you’ll care most about."
It has been over a decade since Facebook started displaying “top stories” rather than showing posts chronologically.
The Home tab, which will still contain TikTok-inspired reels and Snapchat-cloned stories, is expected to be “more of a discovery engine for you to find and follow new content and creators through recommendations”, the company said, while Feeds “provides an easy way to access the content from the people and communities you’re already connected with on Facebook”.
