Archer Materials higher on demonstrating 12CQ quantum device modelling compatibility with existing fabrication processes

“Archer intends to use this modelling to determine which commercial semiconductor manufacturers to engage with regarding future fabrication," CEO Dr Mohammad Choucair said.

Archer Materials Ltd (ASX:AXE, OTC:ARRXF) has produced a set of minimum requirements for the manufacture of quantum electronic device (QED) architectures that are specifically compatible with existing standard industry foundry processes, should the simulations be accurate.

This means Archer will be able to scale the fabrication of its 12CQ chip devices and components and work with industrial-scale manufacturers in the global semiconductor supply chain.

The company performed state-of-the-art 3D Electrostatic Finite Element Modelling in parallel with in-house software development to produce a model simulating the architectures of the technology and to determine which foundries could meet Archer’s fabrication requirements.

These complex simulations resulted in a minimum requirement for QED feature sizes that are compatible with standard processes, including the use of Extreme Ultraviolet Photolithography.

Investors have welcomed the progress, sending shares as much as 16.55% higher to A$0.74 intra-day.

Simulations provide manufacturing guidance

“The results of the advanced simulations provide Archer with an initial avenue to designing qubit devices in a form suitable for scalable processing, and importantly, using existing chip production equipment found in many industrial semiconductor manufacturing foundries,” Archer Materials CEO Dr Mohammad Choucair said.

“Archer intends to use this modelling to determine which commercial semiconductor manufacturers to engage with regarding future fabrication.”

Currently, quantum computing qubit architectures rely on custom-made fabrication processes and generally are unable to leverage well-established industrial semiconductor facilities.

Archer’s 12CQ chip innovation aims to integrate its qubit material with mobile-compatible devices that are in a form suitable for industrial-scale semiconductor nanofabrication.

AXE is the only ASX-listed company – and one of few players in the world – developing qubit processor technology.
