Oxford Cannabinoid Technologies Holdings appointed clinical research organisation (CRO) Simbec-Orion for the first-in-human Phase 1 clinical trial of its lead compound, OCT46120.
The Phase 1 trial, to assess safety and tolerability, is due to start in the first quarter of 2023 and will be performed in the UK in healthy volunteers with a single ascending dose.
Interim results are expected by the end of March 2023 and a full report in 2023’s second quarter.
Simbec-Orion has 45 years of specialist expertise in clinical pharmacology and lab expertise and over 25 years of clinical development experience.
John Lucas, OCTP’s chief executive, said: "We are very excited to partner with Simbec-Orion as we progress our drug candidates to the next crucial phase of their development - randomised, controlled clinical trials.
"This is an important step along the development path for OCT461201, as we advance into clinical trials in healthy volunteers.”
OTCP is developing prescription cannabinoid medicines targeting the multi-billion dollar pain relief market.
