ANGLE hails Athens lung cancer study

The company's Parsortix system was used in ground-breaking work carried out by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens

ANGLE PLC (AIM:AGL, OTCQX:ANPCY) said its liquid biopsy system was used in ground-breaking research that could eventually monitor the progression in real-time of lung cancer.

The company’s Parsortix technology was used to isolate circulating tumour cells (CTCs) that provide the tell-tale signs of the disease.

Researchers at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens used samples captured by the ANGLE device to then monitor a process called DNA methylation in early-stage patients with non-small cell lung cancer. DNA methylation is known to be an important process in the development of cancer.

ANGLE chief executive Andrew Newland said the work by the Athens team “showcases the potential of liquid biopsy, using the Parsortix system, as a promising tool for the assessment of early-stage disease, which is a key priority for healthcare systems worldwide".
