ATOME Energy starts site clearance at Asuncion in Paraguay

Discussions are underway over the delivery of hydrogen-powered heavy goods vehicles

ATOME Energy PLC (AIM:ATOM) said site clearance is underway on its 1 megawatt (MW) electrolyser project at Asuncion in Paraguay, with hydrogen production on track to commence in the first half of 2023.

Doncaster-based Clean Power Hydrogen PLC (AIM:CPH2) is the contractor for the project.

Discussions are also underway over the delivery of hydrogen-powered heavy goods vehicles for its mobility business in the country, where ATOME is looking at a leasing arrangement in order to stimulate local awareness and demand and allow for a rapid scale-up.

Olivier Mussat, chief executive, added: "ATOME continues to demonstrate its intent to be the accelerator in the field of green hydrogen and ammonia with work on the ground already commencing to provide Paraguay with its first-ever commercial green hydrogen mobility solution less than a year from now."

Mussat added that in June, Ramin Navai, the UK’s Ambassador to Paraguay, presented to an audience of renewable energy analysts and discussed the country, its political environment, its role as an economic platform in South America and ATOME's projects in the region.
