Dr Leonidas Howden of Descycle joined Proactive to talk about a new technology that can recover metals from materials in a low-carbon, low-energy and sustainable way.
The technology is based on a new class of chemistry, which was invented in the UK, called Deep Eutectic Solvents (DES for short).
Howden explains how solvents, made from non-toxic, biodegradable inputs, have unique properties that allow metals to behave differently in DES than in normal water-based systems.
