Belmont Resources Inc (TSX-V:BEA) announced it had identified a new copper-gold porphyry system at its Come By Chance (CBC) property in British Columbia.
The Vancouver-based company wrapped up its first drill program on the property, which is located on the Quesnel Terrane that hosts several large copper-gold porphyry deposits.
After drilling a little more than 2,300 metres, Belmont said that it had confirmed porphyry-style alteration, veining and mineralization over an initial area of 1,300 metres by 900 metres.

"The alteration and mineralization observed in drill core from all six holes, suggests that we have potentially drilled the periphery of a new porphyry copper-gold system in British Columbia,” George Sookochoff, CEO of Belmont said in a statement.
Sookochoff added that the company is “just beginning to unlock the untapped potential of the CBC porphyry project.”
According to Belmont, intercepting significant intervals of propylitic alteration shows the company where it may be in the various zonations of a copper porphyry system. Also, significant amounts of chlorite, epidote and carbonates were associated with the Propylitic alteration, which Belmont said is “also very important” for confirming the position in the porphyry zonations.
Belmont is incorporating the drill results with 2021 geophysical data along with more detailed mapping to assist in vectoring toward the core of the porphyry system. A Phase II drill program is slated for the fall of 2022.
