Jubilee Metals names geologist Tracey Kerr as non-exec director

The company is setting up a new safety and sustainability committee, which will be chaired by Kerr

Jubilee Metals Group PLC (AIM:JLP, JSE:JBL, OTC:JUBPF) said it appointed Tracey Kerr as an independent non-executive director with immediate effect, as part of the company's global expansion strategy.

Kerr, a geologist by background, has overseen global exploration programmes at a number of large multinational corporates, including Anglo American PLC (LSE:AAL), where she held the position of group head of exploration across Anglo's exploration activities in 15 countries, Jubilee said in a statement.

She was most recently group head of sustainable development at Anglo American.

Kerr is currently a non-executive director of Hochschild Mining PLC (LSE:HOC, OTCQX:HCHDF), where she is chair of the sustainability committee and a member of the remuneration and nomination committees.

Following Kerr’s appointment, Jubilee is setting up a new safety and sustainability committee, which will be chaired by Kerr with CEO Leon Coetzer and technical director Dr Evan Kirby as members.

The committee will have oversight of the management of safety and sustainability matters, including the relevant systems and processes. Its mandate is to monitor the company's overall approach to sustainability and its role is intended "to promote ethical, transparent and responsible behaviour by the company with meaningful engagement with its stakeholders and communities".

"I welcome Tracey to the board of Jubilee and look forward to working closely with her as we continue to build on our recent period of operational and financial growth as the roll-out of our global metals processing strategy continues,” commented CEO Coetzer.

“Tracey's background in sustainability, safety and geology will be of enormous value to Jubilee as we continue our journey and further implement our sustainability initiatives."

Jubilee also announced that its non-executive chairman Ollie Oliveira, who was appointed in May, will become a member of the audit and risk committee.

The company’s remuneration committee will be chaired by Dr Mathews Phosa, non-executive director.
