Woodbois forecasts revenue and profits growth as volumes recover

The company said 2022 is "on track to deliver strong revenue and profit growth"

Woodbois Ltd (AIM:WBI) said volumes of timber and veneer shipped over the past three months were the most since the start of the pandemic.

The Gabon-based group added the first half was also the best since the onset of Covid, with revenues to end-June 2022 up by 38% to US$11.3mln (US$8.2mln) and margins 3 percentage points higher at 23%.

Sawmill production was up 37% at 9,565m3 (cubic metres), while veneer output jumped 50% to 2,740m3.

Containers shipped rose by 24% quarter-on-quarter, but will only fully convert into revenue in the current three months, said the statement.

Gabon has been experiencing both higher fuel costs and periodic shortages, although to-date operations have not been materially affected, Woodbois added.

A second veneer line is being installed at its factory in Mouila and is expected to be operational this month.

Paul Dolan, chief executive, said: "All stakeholders should be delighted by the strong momentum generated in the first half.

“Whilst there are many challenges ahead, the next step in our journey to scale the business is the full commissioning of our second veneer line in Mouila, Gabon, which we expect to contribute to a further increase in revenues, margins and profitability."

The full-year 2022 is on track to deliver strong revenue and profit growth, added the statement.
