Recce Pharmaceuticals Ltd (ASX:RCE, OTC:RECEF), which is developing a new class of synthetic anti-infectives, has appointed Dr Philip Sutton as vice president of Translational Sciences.
Sutton has been involved with Recce since August 2020, when he joined its scientific advisory committee.
At the time he was also leading the mucosal immunology group at Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, investigating the potential of Recce’s anti-infectives across a suite of pre-clinical programs.
“I am delighted to join the Recce team and look forward to the time ahead in addressing the global health problem of antibiotic-resistant superbugs and emerging viral pathogens,” he said.
Immunology expertise
Sutton also served as the former head of immunology at CSL Limited (ASX:CSL) in Melbourne and has co-authored 99 peer-reviewed publications. He was also chief editor of 'Helicobacter pylori in the 21st Century'.
Now that he has joined the company on a fulltime basis, Sutton will take a leading role in advancing Recce’s compounds across a portfolio of infectious disease programs focused on significant unmet medical need.
