Industrial action affecting British Airways, which is owned by International Consolidated Airlines Group SA (LSE:IAG), has been suspended following a “vastly improved pay offer" made to employees.
Unite said that an agreement was reached between the two parties following negotiations yesterday.
UK’s leading union will now ballot BA staff at Heathrow who were involved in the dispute on the proposed offer.
“We welcome that BA has finally listened to the voice of its check-in staff,” said Unite general secretary Sharon Graham.
“I want to salute the solidarity and bravery of our members, who, through acting in unity, have ensured that a vastly improved offer has been made,” Unite regional officer Russ Ball said.
Last month, 700 BA staff at Heathrow voted in favour of industrial action over the summer following a dispute over pay and accusations of ‘fire and rehire’ practices.
Airports have suffered from a chaotic few months, with a lack of staff causing mass cancellations.
Shares in IAG bounced 4% on the back of news, up to 110p.
