Murchison Minerals kicks off summer exploration program at Haut-Plateau de la Manicouagan nickel-copper-cobalt project in Quebec

“The objectives for the program are to expand and define high-grade nickel, copper, cobalt mineralization at Barre de Fer and Syrah, and continue to build a portfolio of highly prospective de-risked exploration targets,” said Murchison Mine

Murchison Minerals Ltd (TSX-V:MUR, OTCQB:MURMF, TSX-V:MUR.V) said it has commenced its summer exploration program at its Haut-Plateau de la Manicouagan (HPM) nickel-copper-cobalt project in Quebec with a crew mobilizing to the site in mid-June and the start of the prospecting phase of the program.

Murchison CEO Troy Boisjoli told shareholders with the recent closing of its C$5.35 million private placement, the company was well-positioned to execute its 2022 HPM exploration program.

“The objectives for the program are to expand and define high-grade nickel, copper, cobalt mineralization at Barre de Fer (BDF) and Syrah, and continue to build a portfolio of highly prospective de-risked exploration targets,” Boisjoli said.

“The early results have us well placed to achieve these objectives which will significantly advance the HPM project."

The company said it had also begun the process of probing previous drill collars at BDF with a downhole borehole electromagnetic (EM) survey to help refine and target areas of expansion and delineation for the upcoming drilling phase of the summer program.

Murchison said it plans to drill at least 7,500 metres (m) across the course of the summer program. Most of these metres are expected to be drilled at BDF for the purpose of expansion and delineation with the objective of producing a maiden resource by 4Q of this year or early 1Q of 2023.

The remaining metres will be drilled at the Syrah Target, a 600m-long EM anomaly located 350m from BDF.

Additionally, Murchison has received preliminary results from its 2022 Airborne VTEM survey of the remaining 85% of the HPM claim block not previously tested by modern airborne geophysics.

The survey consisted of 3212 line kilometres flown at a 200m spacing and it successfully detected a significant number of new prospective EM anomalies. The new anomalies are being flown with VTEM at 100 m line spacing for increased spatial resolution and they will then be followed up with detailed ground prospecting to identify the source on the surface.

Murchison VP of exploration John Shmyr said the company was very pleased with the preliminary VTEM results demonstrating multiple new areas similar to the BDF zone.

“The early prospecting results which have been concentrated at BDF has been very encouraging where the zone now crops out in several locations across its strike length demonstrating good continuity, previously historic prospecting had only found mineralization in one location,” Shmyr said.

Murchison Minerals is a Canada-based exploration company focused on nickel-copper-cobalt exploration at its 100%-owned HPM project in Quebec and the exploration and development of its 100%-owned Brabant Lake zinc‐copper‐silver project in north‐central Saskatchewan.
