Great Atlantic Resources Corp (TSX-V:GR) said it has started its 2022 exploration program at its Keymet property in New Brunswick, where numerous precious and base metal anomalies were identified last year.
According to Great Atlantic, the anomalous zone covers approximately 850 metres by 500 metres and is open in all directions.
Nearly two-thirds of the soil samples taken in 2021 returned anomalous gold values of between 0.005 and 0.067 parts per million, the company said in a release.

Exploration teams are currently on the ground conducting prospecting and rock and soil geochemical sampling.
Great Atlantic said it is focusing on the central region of the Keymet property, within and surrounding the zone of gold soil geochemical anomalies. The team is hoping to further define gold anomalies and determine the extent of the gold anomalies, and also identify potential sources of the gold soil anomalies and further define trench and drill targets.
The area is relatively underexplored, Great Atlantic noted.
The firm said it believes the area has potential to host gold deposits given its location along the reported northeast-southwest contact between Ordovician - Early Silurian Fournier Group rocks and Silurian Chaleurs Group rocks.
Gold deposits occur approximately 4.5 to 5 kilometers southwest of this survey area and west of the company's Keymet property close to this geological contact, it added.
Keymet is home to the historic Keymet mine, which operated during the mid-1950s and produced lead, zinc, copper and silver.
Previous work by Great Atlantic was focused on the area northwest of the historic mine.
Vancouver-based Great Atlantic is a project generator with a portfolio of assets in Atlantic Canada.
