Aben Resources starts fieldwork at its Slocan graphite project in British Columbia to zero in on potential drill sites

Slocan hosts several flake graphite-bearing outcrops with high values of 3.36 and 4.43% organic carbon at the Tedesco zone

Aben Resources (TSX-V:ABN, OTCQB:ABNAF) Ltd said it has kicked off fieldwork at its Slocan graphite project in British Columbia to evaluate potential drill sites for a future program.

The junior firm said it will focus on field reconnaissance, mapping and rock sampling, in addition to assessing areas to drill.

To that end, the firm has sourced a drill contractor and personnel to get to work once it receives its permit from the British Columbia government.

Slocan is a 2,826-hectare property located 34 kilometres (km) northwest of Castlegar, British Columbia. Nearby infrastructure includes forestry road access to the property and high-voltage transmission lines around one kilometre of the property boundaries. An existing graphite processing plant and facilities owned by Eagle Graphite Corporation, one of only two natural flake graphite production facilities in North America, are within 1.5 kilometres of the property, Aben noted in a statement.

Currently, Slocan hosts several flake graphite-bearing outcrops with high values of 3.36 and 4.43% organic carbon at the Tedesco zone, which is coincident with a strong conductive anomaly identified in 2010 that is interpreted to extend up to 2km from the known surficial occurrences, Aben said in a statement.

The group recently added to its Slocan land package by staking a new 439.4 hectare claim along the northeastern boundary of the property.

Aben told shareholders that the decision was taken after initial evaluation of the property by geologists revealed “excellent potential” for an extension of the mineralized trend in that direction.

Vancouver-based Aben is a diversified Canadian gold and graphite exploration company with exploration projects in British Columbia, Ontario, and the Yukon Territory.
