Fireweed Metals Corp (TSX-V:FWZ, OTCQB:FWEDF said it has commenced a ground gravity survey targeting high-grade massive sulphide mineralization at its recently acquired Gayna River project in the Northwest Territories, Canada.
The company said the ground gravity survey, being conducted by Aurora Geosciences, would comprise several grids targeting the areas of highest geological potential.
The intent of the survey is to use ground gravity to directly detect subsurface density anomalies associated with potential massive sulphide bodies that may lie within approximately 100 to 200 metres of the surface.

A LiDAR survey will also be flown this summer to aid the gravity survey and create a high-resolution Digital Elevation Model for future work.
Fireweed CEO Brandon Macdonald noted the company’s previous successful use of a gravity survey at its flagship Macmillan Pass project as “a key part of defining the drill target.”
“We are building on the experience that we had in using this exploration tool by applying it to a new search space at our recently acquired Gayna River property where we see the potential to make a new discovery of high-grade massive sulphide mineralization,” he said.
The company said the cost of its exploration program has been significantly reduced by a Mining Incentive Program grant it received from the Government of the Northwest Territories valued at up to $132,000.
