Wiluna Mining Corporation Ltd (ASX:WMC, OTC:WMXCF) has delivered high-grade sulphide intersections from its discovery, resource development and grade control drilling programs around current mining areas and new targets across the Wiluna Mining Operation in Western Australia.
The company’s discovery drilling campaign covers nine large-scale targets testing for high-grade sulphide shoots with high-grade intersections including:
- 5 metres at 4.97 g/t gold including 2.6 metres at 8.24 g/t; and
- 1.70 metres at 3.86 g/t including 0.70 metres at 5.66 g/t.
Resource development drilling at Woodley, along strike to the south of the Bulletin zone, has demonstrated continuity of high-grade sulphides largely beyond the current mineral resource limits and results include:
- 3 metres at 11.31 g/t gold;
- 13 metres at 9.77 g/t including 1.60 metres at 40.34 g/t; and
- 4.40 metres at 5.60 g/t including 0.50 metres at 34.70 g/t.
Meanwhile, grade control drilling has delivered wide, high-grade sulphide intersections at Bulletin and Happy Jack, supporting the immediate production profile and ramp-up of sulphide concentrate production, with notable results including:
- 14.29 metres at 11.55 g/t gold;
- 9.5 metres at 7.13 g/t; and
- 13.85 metres at 4.66 g/t and 7.46 metres at 6.56 g/t.
Moving forward, Wiluna will resume its resource development and grade control programs with two rigs mobilising to the site mid-this month.
Discovery program
Wiluna’s discovery drilling targets high-grade shoot discoveries 'under the headframe' at the project.
These discoveries increase the underground ore grade and grow gold production at Wiluna.
The company is targeting analogues to historically mined shoots, such as the Bulletin shoot that historically produced approximately 800,000 ounces at 8 g/t.
Resource development drilling
Wiluna's resource development drilling intersected mineralisation at shallow levels, approximately 500 metres below the surface, and close to the existing Woodley Decline for ease of access.
Notably, the company’s drill program has demonstrated continuity of high-grade sulphides largely beyond the current mineral resource limits.
Grade control drilling
Grade control drilling continues to confirm high-grade sulphide mineralisation in areas within the current 12-month mine schedule at both Happy Jack and Bulletin zones, with extensions to mineralisation also defined.
At Bulletin, drilling within the upper northern area of the mine continues to return high-grade sulphide intervals within planned stope areas and has also highlighted the potential for a (previously undiscovered) footwall lode.
Drilling at Happy Jack North returned several higher-grade intervals which are expected to improve the overall stope grades being mined between the 1400-1300 Levels.
