Noxopharm Ltd (ASX:NOX) has added three more US sites for its CEP-2 sarcoma study following the participation of the Mayo Clinic and Washington University in the study, bringing the number of well-known participating US cancer centres to four.
The Mayo Clinic supports the care of more than 1.3 million patients in the US every year, with its Rochester site in Minnesota named best hospital in the US in 2021-2022 by the US News & World Report. It’s considered one of the top three hospitals for cancer care in the country. The clinic's Florida site will also participate in the study.
Washington University School of Medicine in St Louis is a leader in medical research, teaching and patient care and receives one of the largest funding packages from the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) for research and training.
The participation of these two institutions in NOX’s sarcoma trial demonstrates the ability to attract leading medical researchers to the company’s drug development process, based on a science-driven strategy of advancing the most promising therapies to key value inflection points.
Study aims to improve quality of life
“We are delighted to have such prestigious institutions participating in the CEP-2 trial investigating treatments for soft tissue sarcoma, a challenging cancer with few treatment options,” Noxopharm CEO Dr Gisela Mautner said.
“It is our hope that we will identify an effective treatment to improve outcomes and quality of life for sarcoma patients worldwide.”
The three new sites will begin treating patients with Veyonda and doxorubicin for metastatic soft tissue sarcoma in line with the City of Hope Cancer Center, another of the top-ranked cancer hospitals in the US, which is already conducting the study.
