Germany's road traffic agency is recalling over 59,000 Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) vehicles owing to a "software glitch", with the recall pertaining to Tesla models Y and 3.
The KBA agency said the glitch is in the eCall emergency system and prevents the cars from contacting first responders in an emergency.
The recall was first reported by German regional broadcaster Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg at the weekend.
The recall is just one of the many technical issues Tesla has had to face this year as Elon Musk's electric car company also recalled 130,000 vehicles across the US in May due to overheating touch screens.
Last month, US federal investigators also expanded an investigation into Tesla after more than a dozen cars using its self-driving system crashed into parked emergency vehicles.
Tesla chief executive Elon Musk announced Saturday it delivered 17.9% fewer electric vehicles in the second quarter because of China's COVID-19 shutdown and disruptions in the supply chain.
Musk said last month the Tesla factory in Texas and the one in Berlin are "losing billions of dollars" due to a shortage of batteries and problems with Chinese ports.
