Duke Exploration Ltd (ASX:DEX) has received further preliminary results highlighting a potential Mt Flora vein style target from reverse circulation (RC) drilling at its flagship Bundarra Project in Queensland.
The latest update is for 22 drill holes totalling 3,697 metres that have been completed at the Lonehand-Clooracorn-Seafood (LCS) prospects.
LCS drilling tested structurally controlled copper mineralisation with related copper-in-soils pXRF anomalism and geophysical conductor highs.
Notably, Duke intersected gently east-dipping (Lonehand-Clooracorn) and subvertical (Seafood) vein-hosted copper mineralisation.
The drilling has highlighted a potential Mt. Flora vein style target that has been added to the list of follow-up Bundarra Intrusive Complex (BIC) targets that are emerging as candidates for resource delineation drilling in the future.
Duke managing director Philip Condon said: “This completes the current phase of drilling for the northern area of the BIC.
“These results are very encouraging in that they are indicative of Mt. Flora style gently dipping vein swarms.
“The area around Lonehand Joe’s Pit, warrants follow-up drilling in the future but we’ll await the assays for a final say. We’ll now move to a further refined phase of drilling testing a combination of prioritised intrusive-, breccia- and structural related targets generated from continued analysis of our exploration data.
“Further, the receipt of Laboratory assays is now picking up and initial indications are that the previously reported pXRF results are repeatable and slightly conservative.
“We have a very exciting three months ahead”.
Duke’s LCS investigation is part of the scout drilling program focussed on primary targets in the northern portion of the BIC.
These targets were previously identified as a direct result of the extensive exploration program conducted in Q3 and Q4, 2021 including soil sampling, geological ground truthing and assessment, VTEM and airborne magnetics analysis over the entire BIC plus a 5-hole diamond drilling campaign completed in January 2022.
Future work program
Duke’s immediate work plan is to test structural and magnetic targets emanating from the integration of Duke and Rankin (2022) targets.
This work will involve a combination of the following:
- shallow heel-toe RC drilling testing the development of mineralised N-S trending structures peripheral to Mt. Flora;
- RC drilling testing the geometry and extent of breccia mineralisation at Rogers Prospect;
- RC with a DD (diamond drilling) tail investigation of a prominent magnetic high located NE of Rogers which may be an intrusive stock;
- continued geological investigations and ground validation of Rankin (2022) targets.
