PYX Resources starts production and sales of ilmenite from its Mandiri deposit

PYX is the second-largest zircon producer in the world

PYX Resources Ltd (LSE:PYX, NSX:PYX) said it started production and sales of ilmenite from its Mandiri deposit in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia.

Ilmenite is the main source of titanium dioxide, which is used as a white pigment in many products including paints, printing inks, fabrics, toothpaste, food and cosmetics.

"PYX Resources is extremely pleased to have started the production of ilmenite, which is an important component of our strategic plan,” said chairman and chief executive Oliver Hasler. “Together with our premium zircon, rutile and ilmenite we will better serve our customers around the world and have an important impact to our profitability."

London-listed PYX maximised the production capacity at its mineral separation plant to 24,000 tonnes per annum in November 2021 and in January this year announced that it had started production and sales of natural rutile from Mandiri as a by-product of its primary zircon production operation.
