DeepVerge PLC said the second half of 2021 saw its first underlying profit as revenue in its core divisions bounded forward.
Sales in the year to the end of December rose by 107% to £9.3mln with £6mln of that in the second six months, which the company said meant it moved into profit at the EBITDA level for the first time.
For the year overall, underlying losses fell to £0.02mln (0.86mln) with pre-losses £3.68mln (£2.9mln) after amortisation and higher finance charges.
DeepVerge added that Labskin, its microbiome-based skin testing product, is seeing 'exponential' growth year on year.
Revenues are now ten times higher than in 2018, it said, while Skin Trust Club, which is tailoring the technology to focus on beauty products, now has 20,000 members.
Modern Water, its other main division, grew orders for its pathogen and toxins testing equipment by 39% last year.
Gerry Brandon, chief executive, said: “Labskin is thriving and 2021 saw the launch of the Skin Trust Club which has rapidly gained momentum and is firmly cemented as the new era of personalised skin care.
“Through Modern Water, we expanded our geographic reach and we have been actively involved in multiple government, regional and municipal city infrastructure trials to deliver real-time alerts for the identification of viruses, pathogens and forever chemicals.
“2022 Q1 sales have increased by 84% and this momentum of growth is expected to continue. "
