Electra Battery Materials CEO Trent Mell joined Steve Darling from Proactive to share news the company has begun preliminary discussions with the Government of Quebec to build a new cobalt refinery in Becancour, Quebec. Mell telling Proactive Becancour is a key location because of its emergence as a hub for the supply of low-carbon battery materials to the EV supply chain in North America. The Canadian government has put forward 3.8 billion dollars towards the development of a Critical Minerals Strategy. Electra's study is expected to be completed by the end of 2022.
