IQE PLC (AIM:IQE), the semiconductor wafers supplier, said it has signed a multi-year contract with existing client Lumentum, effective immediately.
The Welsh company will supply epiwafers supporting 3D sensing, LiDAR for automotive, and optical networking applications to its long-term customer.
IQE will serve as Lumentum's preferred epitaxy partner for enabling LiDAR for autonomous vehicles through the production of high-volume epiwafers that will be used across its portfolio of laser products.
Together, IQE and Lumentum said they will be able to develop leading-edge technologies, such as biometric security, data communications, and extended reality, with additional joint development initiatives occuring over several years.

Lumentum is to ramp up the volume of differentiated solutions into even more demanding applications, including automotive, extended reality, and industrial.
