Tremor International confirms talks to buy rival Amobee; to invest US$25mln in VIDAA

The deal is reported to be worth more than £165mln

Advertising technology platform Tremor International Ltd (AIM:TRMR) said it is in talks about acquiring rival Amobee and also announced plans to invest in the smart TV operating system and streaming platform VIDAA.

Sky News reported yesterday that Tremor is in advanced discussions with Singtel in a bid to finalise the purchase of Amobee, a California-based adtech business, in a deal worth more than £165mln.

Confirming the talks, Tremor also said it is in ongoing strategic talks with other third parties as part of the normal course of its business.

It noted that there can be no certainty that the potential acquisition of Amobee will go ahead and said no final terms of the potential deal have been agreed.

In a separate statement, Tremor announced that it will make a strategic US$25mln investment in VIDAA, a subsidiary of Hisense.

“We believe the investment can support VIDAA's plan to increase its distribution across additional OEMs [original equipment manufacturers], with the goal to grow global reach in key markets such as the US, UK, Canada, Germany, Japan, and Australia, as well as others,” Tremor said.
