Anteris Technologies higher as six-month follow up shows 86% improvement in haemodynamics

The six-minute walk test, a key well-being marker, improved 46% since baseline and a further 21% between three and six months, demonstrating how much more active and fit patients can become when implanted with the DurAVR™ valve.

Anteris Technologies Ltd (ASX:AVR, OTC:AMEUF) has been more than 11% higher after a six-month follow-up revealed significant improvements among the first cohort of five patients implanted with the company’s DurAVR™ 3D single-piece aortic heart valve replacement.

The informal follow-up reveals that all patients are doing very well and in fact have shown marked improvements since the three-month follow-up.

Becoming more active

Providing strong encouragement for the company is an 86% improvement in haemodynamics resulting in significant improvements in the ability of patients to become more active and to exercise.

Key data after six months shows that the haemodynamics peak mean gradient reduced 86% since baseline and 6% since the three-month follow-up.

Importantly, the six-minute walk test, a key marker of patient well-being, has improved 46% since baseline and a further 21% improvement between three months and six months, demonstrating how much more active and fit these patients are able to become.

“Encouraging results”

“We continue to see encouraging results in our first group of patients at the six-month mark,” said MPH managing director and Anteris chief medical officer Chris Meduri.

“DurAVR™ demonstrates sustained excellent haemodynamics which results in dramatic improvements in patients’ ability to exercise, etc.

"With an additional eight patients having been implanted recently our data and knowledge continue to expand demonstrating that DurAVR™ will hold an important role in the future treatment of aortic stenosis.”

Shares higher

This news has resulted in Anteris securities increasing by as much as 11.06% to A$23.20 intraday while the company's market cap is approximately A$320.26 million.

This aspect of the DurAVR™’s performance is expected to bring significant clinical/patient benefits in the future.

The six-month follow-up is informal, as was the three-month follow-up, with the study protocol outlining formal follow-ups at 30 days and one year.

“Thrilled to see patients doing so well”

“We are thrilled to see our patients doing so well six months after receiving DurAVR™. The valve is demonstrating clinically relevant haemodynamics, laminar flow and patient outcomes," said Anteris CEO Wayne Paterson.

"With 13 patients now implanted with DurAVR™ we are confident that Anteris will be a significant player in the aortic stenosis market in the years ahead.”
