The study is going to focus on the specifications for capital equipment, which will be used to make the batteries, along with potential operating costs, staffing needs, along with possible time lines and risk management strategies.
Ilika aims to scale up the solid-state battery operation in phases.
“Once we’ve de-risked the process, and we feel like we’re in a position to commit to a larger 100 Megawatt hour [manufacturing] line, then we will effectively transfer the technology into a larger facility,” said chief executive Graeme Purdy.
He added: “We’re doing what we said we were going to do.”
“We are in the middle of executing on our plan to deploy the capital that we raised in 2021, for scaling up the facility … and then the implementation of this 100 Mwh facility is scheduled for 2024."
