One in 10 flights from two Heathrow airport terminals has been cancelled today as problems continue for UK airports.
The build-up of a baggage mountain was the issue at London’s Heathrow, leading the airport to ask airlines flying from its second and third terminals, including British Airways, Aer Lingus and Lufthansa, to cancel 10% of their flights today.

With around 90 flights due to be cancelled, this means close to 15,000 passengers will be affected.
“We’re in contact with affected customers to apologise, advise them of their consumer rights and offer them alternative options, including a refund or rebooking,” said a spokesperson from BA, which is owned by International Consolidated Airlines Group SA (LSE:IAG).
A baggage system at Terminal 2 failed on Friday, leading to a “baggage mountain” building up outside the building.
Heathrow said it was “a technical issue” rather than the shortage of workers that has affected baggage handling at airports such as Gatwick and Manchester.
