Kingwest Resources Ltd (ASX:KWR) has struck bedrock gold in an inaugural diamond drilling program at the Sir Laurence gold targets of the Goongarrie Gold Project in Western Australia, revealing the presence of a potentially large-scale bedrock gold system.
The first two holes of the program encountered this potentially economic mineralised system beneath trace gold mineralisation hosted in alluvial cover and the soil-rock boundary interface, deeper than previous aircore drilling could penetrate.
Evidence from this drill testing program indicates gold mineralisation and levels increase toward the east, suggesting a localised vector pointing towards potentially material gold mineralisation.

“While we have not yet intersected economic grades in the first two holes, the pervasive hydrothermal alteration, intense sulphide development and widespread low grade gold mineralisation demonstrate that we are drilling within a large and prospective system,” Kingwest Resources CEO Ed Turner said.
“Sir Laurence retains the strong potential, due to its litho-structural setting, to host a large, mineralised gold deposit.
“Kingwest continues to refine and define the exploration targets within the Sir Laurence gold system, which will be tested by the rest of this drilling program and remains excited about their potential.”
The remaining 4,000-metre portion of the drilling program at Goongarrie will test the other targets within the Sire Laurence cluster, at which aircore drilling has previously intercepted further bedrock gold mineralisation.
