QMines unearths high-grade copper and gold in nine more holes at Mt Chalmers

Results from the next eight holes are expected shortly as QMines works to release a third resource upgrade later this year.

QMines Ltd (ASX:QML) continues to hit high-grade copper and gold as it explores its flagship Mt Chalmers Project in Queensland.

The base metal explorer has reported its findings from nine more reverse circulation drill holes, which fielded multiple wide and high-grade copper-gold hits of up to 5.1% copper equivalent.

Some of the best copper equivalent results include:

- 69 metres at 2% copper equivalent from 137 metres, including 16 metres at 5.1% from 137 metres and 4 metres at 3.9% from 163 metres;

- 14 metres at 3% from 64 metres;

- 15 metres at 2.1% from 25 metres; and

- 40 metres at 1.2% from 76 metres, including 9 metres at 4.1% from 107 metres.

QMines has since completed another eight RC holes for 1,015 metres, with the samples delivered to laboratory service ALS.

The copper prospector’s downhole electromagnetic survey is also complete and results should come through shortly.

In the meantime, drilling continues unabated and QMines will keep the market abreast of any new findings as it works to deliver a third resource upgrade later this year.

Step-out drilling continues

Speaking to the executive chairman Andrew Sparke said: “The historical Mt Chalmers copper mine continues to deliver shallow, thick and high-grade copper and gold results.

“Further step-out drilling is continuing where the deposit remains open in a number of directions.

“The RC drill rig and our drilling team are performing exceptionally well with significantly more metres being delivered on a more regular basis.

“More results are expected shortly with a further eight holes submitted to ALS for assay.”

Next up

So far, QMines has drilled 17 holes at Mt Chalmers, covering 2,647 metres.

The copper explorer will continue its 10,000-metre program throughout 2022’s second and third quarters.

Based on this, QML hopes to deliver around 2,200 metres of RC drilling each month, creating a busy news pipeline over the season.

Drilling is also set to begin at the Woods Shaft prospect — the first of three JORC 2012 exploration targets at Mt Chalmers.

Preparations are also underway to drill Tracker 3, the first of four large copper and zinc soil anomalies at the project.
