Bloomsbury Publishing says pandemic surge in reading is becoming a permanent change

Bloomsbury Publishing says pandemic surge in reading is becoming a permanent change

Lockdowns triggered a rediscovery of the joys of reading, so says Bloomsbury Publishing's founder and CEO Nigel Newton who spoke to Katie about the company's record annual revenues and profits.

The fiction, non-fiction and academic publisher generated revenues of £230.1mln in the year to 28 February 2022, up 24% on the prior year and 41% on the one before.

Newton, meanwhile, discusses the rationale behind the 24% dividend hike and how the three acquisitions during the year - academic and digital publisher ABC-CLIO, academic imprint Red Globe Press and fiction publisher Head of Zeus are fitting into the firm.
