Polymetals Resources begins Phase 3 RC drilling of high-priority gold targets at Alahiné in Guinea

The program is planned to confirm the strike continuity of the northeast quadrant and test the extent of high-grade mineralisation open at depth.

Polymetals Resources Ltd (ASX:POL) has kicked off a Phase 3 reverse circulation (RC) drilling program targeting high-priority gold targets at the Alahiné Gold Project in the Siguiri Basin of Guinea, West Africa.

This drill program comprises 64 holes across 6,100 metres to test priority targets over four kilometres of interpreted strike.

The program is planned to confirm the strike continuity of the northeast quadrant and test the extent of high-grade mineralisation open at depth.

Meanwhile, the Alahiné licence airborne magnetic survey has been completed with interpretation underway and results expected shortly.

Drilling program

Polymetals’ planned phase three RC program will focus on numerous targets generated during previous drilling programs.

The objective of the program is to test the strike continuity of the delineated mineralised zone.

Consequently, 35 holes totalling 3,170 metres are planned to test the strike extent of broad zones of mineralisation identified within the previous drilling through step-out traverses 200 metres north and south of the company’s 2021 phase two traverses.

A further 13 holes totalling 1,510 metres will test the up-dip and downdip extent of mineralised zones intersected during previous drilling programs.

Infill drilling will continue to define the four kilometres of interpreted strike within the very prospective northeast quadrant of the Alahiné licence.

Dr Chris Johnston and Nana Yaw Asante inspect mapped anticline within Alahiné NE quadrant.

Previous drilling

The company encountered significant Siguiri-style mineralised sections from the previous drilling which include:

  • 14 metres at 1.14 g/t gold;
  • 10 metres at 1.32 g/t;
  • 15 metres at 0.92 g/t;
  • 7 metres at 1.63 g/t; and
  • 19 metres at 0.99 g/t.

In addition, the phase three drilling will also target previous high-grade end-of-hole intersections which include 1 metre at 21.40 g/t gold, 1 metre at 7.12 g/t and 1 metre at 11.56 g/t.

Forward plan

Polymetals expects to publish initial assay results from the RC program during the course of the next month.

The company advises that it has completed the aeromagnetic survey at the Alahiné Project and expects to publish the results this month with immediate follow-up targets to be included within the current Phase 3 RC program.

Trace element abundances including pathfinder elements such as arsenic, silver, antimony, molybdenum, chromium, tellurium and tungsten will be measured by pXRF for all bottom-of-hole samples collected during the recent auger drilling program conducted on the Alahiné licence.

Furthermore, anomalous abundances of some or all of these elements may signal the presence of mineralisation at depth, in which case, further follow-up will be undertaken.
