Games Workshop hands staff another £10mln as profits rise again

Profits for the year 29 May 2022 will rise slightly to £155mln (£151mln)

Games Workshop has awarded another £10mln in bonuses to staff during its latest financial year, although this was down slightly on £13mln paid in the previous twelve months.

The specialist gaming retailer added that profits for the year 29 May 2022 would rise slightly to £155mln (£151mln), indicating a recovery in its second half after a modest dip at the halfway point.

At the time, brokers said the first half result was a good performance given tough comparatives from the pandemic and the impact of currency, freight and supply chain disruption.

Core revenue for the year overall will not be less than £385mln (2020/21: £353mln) with royalties receivable of £28mln (2020/21: £16mln), today's trading update added.

Games Workshop is best known for the Warhammer strategy game and said the staff bonus was paid in cash on an equal basis to each employee.

Shareholders received an unchanged dividend during the year of £77mln or 235p per share.
