KGL Resources Ltd (ASX:KGL) has strengthened its board with the appointment of resources and energy sector veteran Ian Williams as a non-executive director.
Williams brings to the board his vast experience as a non-executive director and strategic adviser to companies in the energy and resources sectors.
Notably, he has been involved in every aspect of the Australian mining industry, including government legislative and regulatory frameworks, project tenements, project approvals, infrastructure, commercial contracts, joint ventures, management arrangements, offtake and marketing arrangements, project financing and mergers and acquisitions.
The appointment will take effect from today and he will assume roles on both the audit and risk and remuneration committees.

Commenting on the appointment, KGL chairman Denis Wood said: “[Ian] Williams has significant Australian board and corporate governance experience (including as chair of risk & audit and remuneration committees) and as a commercial lawyer with 30 years experience in the energy & resources sectors, he will be a valuable addition to the Board of Directors.”
Williams is a non-executive director and chair of the audit & risk committee at ASX-listed energy company New Hope Corporation and chair of ASX-listed transport and rural services company Lindsay Australia (ASX:LAU) Limited.
He was also a corporate partner of international law firms Herbert Smith Freehills and Ashurst.
What's more, Williams has been vice-president of the Australia Japan Business Cooperation Committee since 2006 and represented both Australia and Japan in rugby union.
