Ethernity Networks Ltd (AIM:ENET) said it delivered the Universal Edge Platform (UEP) module as part of a previously announced US$0.9mln contract with an international wireless connectivity vendor and said it is making progress with its forthcoming UEP2025 upgrade model.
The UEP module, which is adapted for use in conjunction with a leading wireless backhaul transmission product and is similar in design to the UEP2025 cell site router, was sent after successful development and prototype testing stages.
Ethernity said it is now producing the remaining UEP modules under the initial committed contract.
“The move to the manufacture and supply of the UEP module for our OEM customer is a significant achievement,” said Shavit Baruch, vice president of research & development.
The initial production stage of the upgraded model, the UEP2025, is also beginning after its development stage was completed.
The UEP2025, which is designed to facilitate 5G infrastructure deployment by offering higher bandwidth transport, a faster time to market and lower cost to deploy, is planned to generate additional revenue over and above the initial contracted revenue associated with the contract, the company said.
With the development of the UEP2025 now completed, the initial production stage will see the model undergo “prescheduled” testing with potential customers with the aim of hitting volume availability in the fourth quarter of this year.
Baruch said completion of the integration of the UEP2025 is “a significant milestone, opening the doors for deliveries into multiple sectors of the 5G infrastructure market that were previously unavailable to the company's sales efforts”.
