Cornish Metals Inc (AIM:CUSN, TSX-V:CUSN, OTC:SBWFF) has announced that Vision Blue Resources has nominated former Anglo American boss Tony Trahar as its representative to the board of directors of the company.
Vision Blue is a major investment vehicle headed up by mining industry veteran and former Xstrata chief Mick Davis, and has recently made a major investment in Cornish Metals.
Cornish Metals plans to reopen the South Crofty tin mine in Cornwall after completing a dewatering operation.
Tony Trahar has a 40-year track record in the mining, natural resources and industrial sectors.
He was chief executive of Anglo American PLC (LSE:AAL) from 2000 to 2007, and was also a director of Anglo Gold, Anglo Platinum and De Beers.
During his tenure at Anglo American, Tony oversaw a significant period of growth, delivering a 35% return on equity and returning US$10.5bn to shareholders.
In addition, he negotiated and implemented the US$19bn deal that integrated De Beers into Anglo American. He is currently a special adviser to Vision Blue Resources.
"We are very pleased to welcome Mr Trahar to the board of Cornish Metals,” said Cornish Metals chief executive Richard Williams.
“Tony's experience in all aspects of the mining industry will be a tremendous asset to Cornish Metals as we advance South Crofty and assess additional value adding opportunities that may be presented to us."
