Meta Platforms to scrap Facebook ticker symbol from next week

Class A common stock will begin trading on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol 'META'

Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ:FB), Facebook's parent company, said its stock will begin trading on Nasdaq on June 9 under the new ticker symbol META.

The company's ticker symbol has been FB since its IPO in 2012. The new ticker symbol aligns with the company's October 2021 rebranding to Meta from Facebook.

Meta was rebranded by Facebook as part of its "growing ambitions beyond social media," and at the time, Meta said its stock ticker would change to MVRS beginning December 1.

Late November, the company said it was delaying changes until the first quarter of 2022.

With Roundhill Investments, which uses the 'META' ticker for its Roundhill Ball Metaverse ETF, announcing it will be giving up the symbol, Meta has now taken it on.
