Geopacific Resources’ continued drilling success highlights Woodlark Gold Project upside potential

“The grade control and resource extension drilling campaign continues to deliver positive results and demonstrates the upside potential that exists to expand the mineral resources at the project,” says CEO Tim Richards.

Geopacific Resources Ltd (ASX:GPR) has unearthed more broad intersections of solid gold grades within and around the Kulumadau pit of the Woodlark Gold Project in Papua New Guinea, further evidence of the project’s growing potential.

The recent trend of shallow, high-grade gold results continues in this latest round of grade control drilling within the Kulumadau pit, including:

  • 41 metres at 10.4 g/t gold (426 gram metres), from surface;
  • 28 metres at 10.05 g/t (281 gram metres) from 32 metres;
  • 30 metres at 4.92 g/t (148 gram metres), from surface;
  • 12 metres at 9.77 g/t (117 gram metres), from 24 metres; and
  • 29 metres at 3.64 g/t (106 gram metres), from surface.

Geopacific also engaged in resource extension drilling outside the pit area at Kulumandau, with 13 holes returning results including:

  • 8 metres at 2.31 g/t gold, from 47 metres; and
  • 12 metres at 1.68 g/t from 70 metres.

A further 11 resource extension holes have been completed, with samples awaiting laboratory assay.

Results demonstrate “upside potential”

“The grade control and resource extension drilling campaign continues to deliver positive results and demonstrates the upside potential that exists to expand the mineral resources at the project,” Geopacific Resources CEO Tim Richards said.

“With results from over 50 holes received, the grade control drilling campaign has increased our understanding of the geology that exists within the pits providing additional data to be utilised in future mine planning models.

“The ongoing drilling campaign will target further near-pit exploration potential with a focus on the recent encouraging results from the previously undrilled Kulumadau East region.

“I look forward to updating the market in coming periods as we continue to receive further drilling results.”

The drilling program at Woodlark is ongoing, focused on growing the Kulumadau and Busai deposits and exploring the near pit potential identified at Kulumadau East, as well as other prospective areas within the project.
