Five Seraphim Space portfolio companies send payloads onboard latest SpaceX launch

On board were 59 spacecraft, including 'cubesats', 'microsats', hosted payloads and orbital transfer vehicles

Five companies in the Seraphim Space Investment Trust PLC (LSE:SSIT) portfolio were onboard the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket that blasted off from Cape Canaveral this week.

Carried into space on a reusable SpaceX rocket, the Transporter 5 mission was a dedicated smallsat rideshare program.

On board were 59 spacecraft, including 'cubesats', 'microsats', hosted payloads and orbital transfer vehicles.

Of the Seraphim companies, HawkEye 360 Inc, which launched satellites to take its constellation to 15 satellites and will reportedly double the capacity for data collection, dramatically increasing the amount of data available to users.

D-Orbit, the Italy-based logistics and orbital transportation company that is in the process of going public on NASDAQ, launched the sixth commercial mission for its orbital transfer vehicle, ION Satellite Carrier, as part of its ‘Infinite Blue‘ mission.

Spire Global Inc (NYSE:SPIR) launched five satellites and hardware for customers as part of its space-as-a-service business.

ICEYE, the Finnish radar satellite specialist, sent five new SAR satellites into orbit via Exolaunch, taking its deployments to 21 radar imaging satellites since 2018, including both commercial and dedicated customer missions. Two of the satellites are licensed by the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and two to the Brazilian Air Force.

Xona Space Systems, a May 2020 investment for Seraphim, launched its first in-space demo mission to validate software and hardware for transmitting navigation signals from low-earth orbit.

One of Seraphim's other portfolio companies, Leo Labs activated tracking services to provide location and identification support for satellite operators and their newly deployed payloads.
