Jubilee Metals Group PLC (AIM:JLP, JSE:JBL, OTC:JUBPF) said it appointed Manuel Lino Silva de Sousa Oliveira (Ollie) as its independent non-executive chairman with effect from 1 June 2022.
Colin Bird, the founder of Jubilee, previously announced his intention to step down as chairman to pursue various initiatives outside the metals processing company. Bird will still have an advisory role for two years, assisting with special projects.
Oliveira, a chartered accountant and economist with more than 35 years of strategic and operational experience worldwide in the mining industry and corporate finance, was appointed as an independent non-executive director of Jubilee with immediate effect.
Oliveira held senior executive positions at Anglo American PLC (LSE:AAL) and has led and managed corporate finance assignments totalling more than US$36bn covering every major commodity, including the US$19.3bn De Beers public-to-private transaction in 2001.
He is currently non-executive director and chair of the audit committee of Brazil’s Vale SA and has held non-executive roles at BlackRock World Mining Trust PLC, Polymetal International PLC (LSE:POLY) and Antofagasta Minerals PLC.
“Ollie's experience will be of significant value to our company given his vast experience, knowledge of the sector and deep understanding of financial markets, as the roll-out of our global metals processing strategy continues this year and beyond,” said chief executive Leon Coetzer.
The company also said chief financial officer Pedja Kovacevic will become chief strategy officer (CSO) to focus on the group’s global expansion drive and named Peet van Coller as the new CFO.
In addition, Jubilee has appointed Joh. Berenberg, Gossler & Co KG as joint corporate broker alongside its existing brokers, with immediate effect.
