Magnis Energy Technologies approaches fully automated production at New York lithium-ion battery plant

“After years of planning we are entering an exciting phase with fully automated production only weeks away," says iM3NY CEO Chaitanya Sharma.

Magnis Energy Technologies Ltd (ASX:MNS, OTCQX:MNSEF) and joint venture and technology partner Charge CCCV LLCs advanced the Imperium3 New York (iM3NY) gigawatt-scale lithium-ion battery manufacturing plant in Endicott, New York, to 72% completion as of the end of April.

The iM3NY plant is on-track to begin production late next month, having already produced more than 100 cells using the plant’s high-volume manufacturing components.

Those cells will continue to undergo quality, reproducibility and performance checks to improve and streamline operation of high-volume production.

Fully automated production for the plant is expected to begin at the 80% completion mark, with the remaining 20% consisting of mainly cosmetic changes to the factory, minor works to an internal office area and the ramping up of production.

“Fully automated production only weeks away”

“After years of planning we are entering an exciting phase with fully automated production only weeks away,” iM3NY CEO Chaitanya Sharma said.

“We look forward to keeping all stakeholders updated with all developments.”

Imperium3 New York Inc, Magnis’ jointly owned subsidiary in partnership with Charge CCCV LLC, is engaged in the development and operation of a gigawatt-scale lithium-ion battery manufacturing project.

The JV partnership intends to commercialise Charge’s patented technology to produce green credentialed lithium-ion battery cells for the US market.

Magnis has a minority stake in Charge and has exclusively licensed the company’s anode processing technology with an aim to produce high-performance anode materials with natural flake graphite from Magnis’ Nachu Graphite Project in Tanzania.
