Australian Gold and Copper Ltd (ASX:AGC) has received broad intercepts of near-surface gold from nine reverse circulation (RC) drill holes for 1,070 metres at the Carlisle Reefs end of a 15-kilometre-long gold-arsenic-sulphide trend at the Moorefield Project in NSW.
AGC targeted drilling at historic mine workings on the central NSW project, seeking to extend mineralisation noted in previous drilling results which returned up to 30 metres at 1.6 g/t gold.
Assays of note include:
CRRC005 - 5 metres at 0.9 g/t gold from 19 metres, including 2 metres at 2.0 g/t from 19 metres.
CRRC007 - 7 metres at 1.0 g/t gold from 73 metres, including 1-metre at 3.6 g/t from 74 metres.
CRRC009 returned widespread mineralisation in almost the entire hole with 148 metres at 0.28 g/t gold from 0 metres including:
- 23 metres at 0.5 g/t from 18 metres, including 6 metres at 1.2 g/t from 34 metres;
- 18 metres at 0.4 g/t from 74 metres; and
- 14 metres at 0.8 g/t from 134 metres, including 1-metre at 3.8 g/t from 135 metres.
Mineralisation remains open to the north and south along strike, demonstrating a similar geological setting to the Boxdale prospect 15 kilometres to the north.
Results demonstrate untapped potential
“These results are very exciting for AGC given this 15-kilometre trend continues to deliver gold intercepts at both the north-western (Boxdale) and south-eastern (Carlisle Reefs) ends,” Australian Gold and Copper managing director Glen Diemar said.
“This proves the fertility and the potential for significant upside at both Boxdale and Carlisle Reefs and potentially in between.
“A large near-surface gold discovery is our goal here and, to date, Boxdale has delivered the strongest results and we eagerly await the next batch of assays from Boxdale’s 23- hole RC program.”
AGC says these results highlight the growth potential of the 15-kilometre-long trend, where no drilling has yet been undertaken to link the two mineralised ends of the strike.
